Rajiv Gandhi School of Medicine

Dean – School of Medicine Message

It is with great pride and responsibility that I assumed the role of the Dean of the School of Medicine at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Science and Technology. Our School of Medicine is built upon a tradition of excellence, compassion, and innovation, and I am committed to advancing these values as we prepare the next generation of physicians and healthcare leaders.

Medical education is not only the acquisition of knowledge and skills but also the cultivation of character, empathy, and lifelong learning. As Sir William Osler, one of the founding figures of modern medical education, wisely stated: “The practice of medicine is an art, not a trade; a calling, not a business; a calling in which your heart will be exercised equally with your head.” This timeless reminder underscores our mission to train doctors who embody both scientific rigor and humanistic care.

At RGUST School of Medicine, we will continue to:

  • Strengthening our curriculum to meet international accreditation standards.
  • Foster a culture of inquiry, research, and innovation.
  • Support faculty development and professional growth.
  • Safeguard student welfare and uphold the highest ethical standards.
  • Build partnerships that expand opportunities for global collaboration and service.

I invite our students, faculty, and partners to join me on this shared journey of excellence. Together, we will ensure that RGUST School of Medicine remains a place where knowledge, compassion, and service to humanity converge.

Prof. Dr. Shamdeo Persaud MBBS, MPH
Dean, School of Medicine
