Scholarships

RGUST feels that academic excellence is worthy of recognition, hence we seek to provide students with financial aid once they meet the necessary requirements.

Understanding that financial limitations should not be a hindrance to educational goals of applicants showing strong academic capacity, RGUST will provide to offer tuition assistance in form of scholarships to deserving and qualified new students requiring Financial Assistance.

Requirements for scholarships are:

  • Candidates must have a GPA of 4.0 in their high school and also those who have attained more than 95% of marks from an accredited secondary school program.
  • Special considerations are also given to minority candidates including Amerindians and those with a background in active service.
  • Candidates requesting scholarships should exhibit strong academic background, interest, and proof that this financial aid is needed.

Important:

  • RGUST offers only a limited number of Partial Scholarships to deserving and qualified national and international candidates, upon due process of verification and consideration.
  • Scholarships offered would only cover tuition for the undergraduate and pre-clinical level of education. Clinical education and clerkship will not be included.
  • Any scholarship that is offered by the university will be for one time only as a non-transferable award subject to review of academic performance each semester and overall good standing status with the university.

Academic Potential Consideration:

Potential applicants will be evaluated based on their academic strength such as follows:

  • More than 95% of marks from a regionally accredited Secondary School
  • High School GPA of 3.5 or above
  • SAT scores of 1750 or above
  • MCAT Scores of 25 and above

Financial Assistance for Guyanese Students:

RGUST’s School of Medicine is offering a Limited Financial Assistance in Tuition to all new qualified candidates (Guyanese only, not holding dual citizenships or residence abroad) joining the Doctor of Medicine Degree program as a One-time-only and Non-transferable. This Financial assistance will cover Tuition Fee-Only and is subjected to a review of the student’s overall performance including academic standing and status with the University. The assistance will not cover any other miscellaneous fees.

The amount offered in financial assistance will be covered by the University and will be for the complete duration of the student’s education at RGUST.

Note: If the student decides to withdraw from the program, discontinue or transfer his / her education from RGUST’s School of Medicine, then the scholarship offered will be cancelled and the student would automatically become liable to pay the amount provided by the university in scholarship before requesting a transcript or any other academic documents.
